Leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem solving are all important parts of working in groups. In this presentation, we learned about different leadership styles, group roles, meetings, communication, and how groups solve problems together. I found this topic interesting because almost everyone has experienced working in groups before, whether it is in school, sports, work, or other activities. Some group experiences can be very positive while others can be stressful and frustrating. These chapters helped me better understand why some groups work well together and why other struggle.

One of the topics that stood out to me the most was leadership. Before this presentation, I mostly thought of leadership as being the person in charge or the one giving directions. After learning more about it, I realized leadership can be shared among different strengths, ideas and skills. The presentation also explained different leadership styles like democratic, autocratic and servant leadership. I personally believed democratic leadership is one of the best styles because it allows everyone to share their opinions and feel included. In group projects, I feel more comfortable when everyone can participate instead of only one person making all the decisions.

I have experienced both good and bad leaders in school group projects. Some leaders are organized, respectful, and help the group stay focused. These types of leaders make the group work easier because everyone understands what they need to do. However, I have also experienced situations where one person tried to control everything or ignored other people's ideas. This usually creates frustration and makes group members feel less motivated. I learned that a good leader should not only focus on finishing the assignment, but should also help the group communicate and work together positively.

Another important topic from the presentation was group roles. The chapter explained task roles, maintenance roles and procedural roles. I realized that every group member usually takes on a different responsibility during projects or meetings. Some people are good at organizing information, some help keep the group positive, and others focus on making sure tasks are completed on time. I think I usually take on the role of someone who supports the group and helps keep things organized. I like helping classmates understand what they have to do and making sure everyone knows what is happening. I also try to encourage people when they seem stressed or overwhelmed because group projects can sometimes become frustrating and since I'm a person that gets easily stressed and overwhelmed I'll love to have someone help and support me the same way.

The maintenance roles section reminded me how important positivity is in teamwork. Sometimes student focus so much on completing the assignment that they forget how important communication and encouragement are. When people support each other and respect one another's opinions, the group environment becomes more less stressful. I have noticed that groups work much better when everyone feels comfortable speaking and sharing ideas. On the other hand, if people are rude, negative, or refuse to cooperate, the group usually struggles more. Positive communication can make a big difference in how successful a group becomes.

This presentation also discussed procedural roles like coordinators, and recorders. These roles help groups stay organized and productive. I think organization is one of the most important parts of group work because without it, meetings can become confusing and unproductive. I have been in situations where nobody knew what tasks they were responsible for, and it caused last minute stress before deadlines. When groups communicate clearly and divide responsibilities fairly, projects become easier to complete. This chapter made me realize how important planning and organization are for successful teamwork.

Another part of the presentation that I related to was effective meetings. The chapter explained that many meetings become a waste of time when there is no structure or clear purpose. I completely agree with this because I have experienced meetings where people became distracted, talked over each other, or went off topic. Sometimes group chats and virtual meetings can also create confusion because messages are misunderstood or ignored. During virtual communication, it is harder to understand people's emotions or reactions compared to face to face conversations. This can sometimes lead to a conflict or misunderstandings between group members.

I also found the section about problem solving and conflict very realistic. Conflict happens often during group work, especially when some people do not participate equally or when group members disagree about ideas. I have experienced situations where some students completed their work late, which created stress for the rest of the group. I have also seen disagreements happen because people communicated poorly or did not listen to each other. In many cases, these problems could have been solved with better communication and teamwork. The chapter helped me understand that conflict is normal, but the important thing is learning how to handle it respectfully and calmly.

The information about systematic problem solving also taught me that groups should solve problems step by step instead if reacting emotionally. Sometimes people become frustrated quickly like me during group projects, especially near deadlines. However, I've learned that groups are more successful when they stay calm, listen to everyone's opinions, and work together towards a solution. I think patience and communication are very important skills during group work because every person has different ideas and personalities.

Another thing I learned from this presentation is how important trust is un group work as well. When group members trust each other and communicate honestly, projects  usually go more smoothly. I have been in groups where everyone worked together equally, and those projects felt less stressful and more enjoyable. Everyone completed their part, respected deadlines, and supported each other when needed. However, I have also experienced situations where trust was missing because some members did not participate or communicate properly. This created frustration for the rest of the group and made the project harder to complete. Because of this presentation, I now understand that teamwork depends a lot on responsibility, respect, and effort from every member. Even small actions like responding to messages, attending meetings, or helping classmates can improve the overall success of a group.

Overall, this presentation taught me many valuable lessons about leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem solving. it helped me reflect on my own experiences working in groups and made me realize hoe important respect and organization are. I learned that leadership is not only about being in charge, but also about helping others and encouraging teamwork. I also learned that communication plays a huge role in whether a group succeeds or struggles. These chapter helped me understand how I can become a better team member and leader in future group projects, jobs, and situations in life.
